Court Coordination/Dual Jurisdiction Program

The Court Coordination/Dual Jurisdiction Program seeks to provide more options for the Orleans Parish Juvenile Court through coordination of services at all levels (local, parish, state, federal and private) for youth dually involved in the Child in Need of Care, Juvenile Delinquency systems and youth who are at imminent risk of being removed from the home.

Research demonstrates that youth involved in the abuse and neglect system pose a higher risk for engaging in delinquent behavior as a direct result of abuse and neglect.  To decrease the risk for delinquent behavior Orleans Parish Juvenile Court will coordinate the disposition of all dual jurisdiction youth in conformity with One Family One Judge to better service the youth in both systems.

The Court Coordinator will work on behalf of the court and be responsible for screening and assessing cases for participation in the program, identifying and assessing available community based services, planning and coordinating services among agencies and monitoring the progress of youth in the program.
